The mission of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Center of Excellence is to serve as a collaborative platform for knowledge, expertise, solutions and innovation through technological innovation and investment in education with industry partners. Working with industry partners, the Center will build out key processes and expertise across the college for LNG as a Clean Energy. The center will develop courses and encourage research in the area of LNG propulsion, cargo and bunkering operations, safety and compliance.
The Center was launched with a grant from the New York State Clean Energy Career Initiative and will deliver classroom and online training programs for the LNG sector. The Center is a member of the Society of Gas as Marine Fuel. Our current partners include TOTE Services, LLC and Northstar Midstream.
Objectives
1. Develop scalable and responsive online courses and programs that align with the Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) workforce needs using noncredit to credit pathways and micro credentials.
2. Increase number of completions and degrees.
3. Foster Maritime College curricula change and innovation as it relates to LNG production and transportation.
4. Provide collaborative research opportunities for faculty and students in the area of LNG clean energy.
