Salem Elsaiah is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Engineering. Prior to this role, he held academic positions at Bucknell University, Lewisburg, PA, Energy Reliability and Security Research Lab, Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI, and The University of Benghazi, Benghazi, Libya. At Maritime College, he teaches core courses and introductory courses for Regimental and civilian students. His research interests include optimal power system planning, Microgrids, integrated marine power systems (IMPS), and cyber-physical energy systems. His most recent research interests include the development of new teaching paradigms and technology implementations to cultivating undergraduate education.
He is a member of the IEEE, PES, IAS, IEEE Young Professionals and has served as a reviewer for numerous IEEE Transactions. He is a member of the ASEE Mid-Atlantic Section, chaired sessions at the FIE, and served as a panelist for the Department of Defense and the ASEE SMART Scholarship Program. As an IEEE and ASEE member, he continues to contribute to the IEEE Power & Energy Society and the engineering community through scholarship, education, and research.
