Cornelia McCarthy

Dr. Cornelia McCarthy received a Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University.  She is an Assistant Professor in SUNY Maritime College Global Business and Transportation Department and the Graduate Program Coordinator for International Transportation Management. At Maritime she teaches courses in economics, international trade and finance. She advises students on their academic and career plans. She coordinates events that bring alumni back to campus to share their experience and advise with the students. She has taught in the MBA program at Fordham University, the MA program for Economic Policy Managers at Columbia University of International Affairs, and the MA program in Economics at New York University. She has extensive experience in research working for the National Bureau of Economic Research, for Citibank. 

From 1997 to 2012 she was Associate Editor of the Journal of International Money and Finance where she worked with world renown experts in international economics and finance. She was the Guest Editor for the JIMF Special Issue: Perspectives on the Financial Crisis in Asia and the JIMF's 30th Anniversary issue. She has published articles on the equity markets, the Basel Accord, exchange rate regimes and economic development in China. Her current area research interest is economic growth in a service economy with a particular emphasis on the role of maritime transportation.
