Homecoming was a nostalgic day for the entire Maritime College community. Crowds of maritime alumni, family and friends gathered on October 16 to enjoy a day of celebration, reunion, sports and school spirit in the first in-person Homecoming event since the onset of the pandemic.
Festivities began early in the morning at the Stephen B. Luce Library where the classes celebrating their 50th, 55th, 60th and 65th reunions shared breakfast and walked through the Treasure of the Archives. The special display organized by the Library’s archivist showcased photos, College newspaper articles and other memorabilia specific to the Reunion Classes. School pride was contagious at the Pass In Review Ceremony as the new MUG Class of 2025 was reviewed by the Reunion Classes at St. Marys Pentagon.
Maritime alumni from many classes, some from as far back as 1947, attended Homecoming 2021 and the parking lots were filled with alumni who tailgated, enjoyed games and activities such as corn-hole, and relished in the company of friends. The energy of Homecoming was vibrant and a reminder of the perseverance of Maritime College alumni, students and the community.
The day ended at Reinhard Field with the Regiment March and Alumni Parade. Bleachers were packed with alumni, students and visitors eager to support and cheer on the Maritime Men’s Football team as they played against the College of Gallaudet.
