License Programs

Undergraduate

Undergraduates may pursue one of 10 bachelor degrees or an associate degree. Many of the degree programs allow students to pursue a U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) deck or engine license, which qualifies them to work onboard a commercial vessel.

SUNY Maritime's programs combine faculty who are industry leaders with top-quality curricula and the real-world experience necessary to jump-start or build on a career. We offer Master of Science degree Shipping and Logistics.

License

Our majors include coursework and training to prepare students to earn a U.S. Coast Guard Deck or Engine License. Upon earning your license, you will qualify for commercial vessel positions. To participate in the United States Coast Guard Licensure; you are required to be a member of the Regiment of Cadets.

Summer Sea Term

As part of the licensing track, you must participate in three annual Training Cruises. It’s a unique opportunity to apply your academic learning by gaining hands-on experience aboard the college’s state-of-the-art training ship. You and your shipmates will have the chance to manage the day-to-day operations of a seagoing vessel as you progress through your academic career. The summer training cruise will allow you to make port calls throughout Europe and the Caribbean, explore foreign cultures, and, most importantly, build lifelong memories with your shipmates that you will cherish forever.
