Maritime at Night

Dear Maritime College Family,

On behalf of the President, Faculty and Staff, we are excited that Empire State VII will return back to campus after its first Summer Sea Term on Tuesday, 6 August.  The ship is expected to be at Olivet Pier at approximately 1:00 PM.  We hope the entire Maritime College Family (families, friends, faculty, staff, and alumni) will come to campus to welcome home our Cadets.  If you plan to attend, here are a few reminders:

•              Parking will be at a premium.  Please park only in authorized areas.  We must maintain access for emergency vehicles.  Carpooling is highly recommended.

•              Chairs, tables, tents, or access to the campus for set up will be permitted starting at 6:00 AM on Tuesday, 6 August.  Items set up prior to 6:00 AM will be removed by facilities.

•              Please keep chairs, tables, and tents off streets or sidewalks – we need to keep these clear for the safety of all, and access for emergency vehicles.

•              Access to Olivet Pier is not permitted.

•              Alcohol consumption is not permitted on campus.

•              Please bring signs and posters welcoming your Cadet home - let's show them the Maritime College Spirit!

•              Cadets will be allowed back on the ship after arrival to gather belongings. Only cadets and ship staff will have access to Empire State.

If you can’t make it to campus or would like to view Empire State as she transits from the Stapleton Anchorage to Fort Schuyler, here are some alternative viewing areas along her transit:

•              Francis Lewis Park, Whitestone (1230)

•              Ferry Point Park, Throgs Neck
