New for Spring:
Students may apply for admission to U.S. Coast Guard license programs.
Freshman admissions decisions are based on the strength of your high school curriculum, SAT or ACT scores, extra-curricular activities and two letters of recommendation.
The early decision application deadline is November 1.
The regular deadline to apply for fall admission is January 31.
If you want to start at SUNY Maritime in the spring, you must apply by December 15.
High School Curriculum
Show us you are dedicated to your studies - take AP, honors and other advanced courses if you can. Get involved in clubs and extracurricular activities.
We recommend that all applicants take
4 years of English
4 years of social studies
3 years of mathematics
Pre-calculus is required for engineering
3 years of science
Chemistry and physics are strongly recommended
We look at your entire transcript - not just junior year. We do notice if your grades have improved over time. We do look closely at your math and science coursework.
If you are not sure which program you would like to apply for please click here.
Students must complete the essay portion of either application to be considered for admission.
Letters of Recommendation
You must submit two letters of recommendation.
Please send at least one letter from an academic source. The other can be from another academic source, a coach, or another mentor.
Submit your letters of recommendation through SUNY Campus Connect, Naviance or by mail. Mailed letters must be sent from your high school.
Early Decision Agreement
If you apply through early decision, you must fill out the early decision agreement form by November 1.
