On Friday, January 17, the Maritime Women’s Rugby Team, who will start their inaugural season this spring, hosted USA Rugby legend Tiffany Faaee. A New Zealand native & professional player, Faaee captained Team USA at the 2017 Rugby World Cup to their highest finish at the Cup since 1998. Making history last year, she became the first Woman professional coach of a men’s professional team, signing with Rugby United New York of Major League Rugby. She put together a professional level practice, working skills & drills with the 22 Maritime women players, who are part of an active roster approaching 30 girls as they approach embarking on their first season. She later spoke with the girls about her journey to setting records at the highest levels professionally, and what the sport of rugby has done for her life. Faaee was also presented a commemorative plaque by the team as a sincere thank you for volunteering her time with such enthusiasm, and more excitingly, has agreed to come instruct the group at a later date.
