Cornelia McCarthy and Mark Meirowitz

SUNY Chancellor Dr. Kristina Johnson awarded Dr. Cornelia McCarthy of the Global Business and Transportation Department, the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Faculty Service at this year’s Commencement ceremony. Dr. McCarthy teaches economics, international trade and finance, and advices students on their academic and career plans. She also serves as Graduate Program Coordinator for International Transportation Management. “Your contributions to your profession, your campus, SUNY and the broader community are reflected in your selection for this honor,” stated SUNY Maritime Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, Dr. Joseph Hoffman.

Dr. Mark Meirowitz of the Humanities Department was presented the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities by Chancellor Johnson at Commencement. Dr. Meirowitz specializes in Turkish Foreign Policy, U.S.-Turkish and Turkish-Israeli relations, American History, American Foreign Policy, and Constitutional Law. He teaches a wide variety of classes at Maritime including American Foreign Policy, Constitutional Law and English and developed a graduate course on Ocean Politics and Law. “Your contributions to developing new knowledge, enhancing the University’s vibrancy and fostering the intellectual cultural growth of its students are reflected in your selection for this honor,” stated SUNY Maritime Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, Dr. Joseph Hoffman.
