LT Clayton Staton has 33 years of combine military and civilian law enforcement experience. He is a retired Detective of the New Jersey State Police (NJSP) where he served at several road duty stations. His last road station was the New Jersey Turnpike, Newark Station before becoming a specialist. He served in several units including Community Policing, Recruiting, Victim Services, Equal Employment Opportunity/Conflict Resolution and Internal Affairs. Staff Inspection was his last assignment before retirement. He was the Assistant Unit Head of the Staff Inspection Unit that covered the entire Division of the NJSP. 

LT Staton trained thousands of sworn and non-sworn NJSP employees as the Equal Employment Opportunity/Conflict Resolution Training Officer, and he supervised Detective Sergeants in Internal Affairs. He managed the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Response Teams in Northern NJSP patrolled areas which covers nine NJSP Stations and ten counties. This included the NJ Meadowlands Sports Complex and NJ Sports Exposition Authority. He co-authored the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Training for all sworn members in the NJSP. He is also a certified State of NJ Security Instructor. 

LT Staton enlisted in the United States Navy in 1983 and served as the Senior Master-At-Arms at the Naval Biodynamics Laboratory on the facilities of NASA. He was later assigned to sea patrol within the Nav/Ops department aboard a Fast Attack Submarine (USS Shark-SSN 591). He joined the U.S. Army Reserve where he served as an Acting Lieutenant and Training Officer for the 812th Military Police Company. He was later appointed to the rank of Lieutenant by SUNY Maritime College. 

LT Staton completed his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Passaic County Community College, a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Saint Peter's University, and a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice from Boston University.  He is the founder of a Non-Profit Corporation named The Cadet Corps, which is designed to mentor At-Risk-Youth and Bridge The Gap Between The Urban Communities and The Police. He is a Self-published science fiction author of, "Dayton The Beginning of The Apocalypse."  Clayton is married with children. He is also a grandfather.
